Alpha RO Terms of Service

Welcome to Alpha RO.

These Terms of Service explain the basic rules for using the Alpha RO website, creating an account, playing on the server, and using Alpha RO services.

By creating an account, logging into the game, or using Alpha RO, you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree with them, do not use the service.

1. What Alpha RO Is

Alpha RO is an independently operated Ragnarok Online private server and community project.

Alpha RO is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Gravity Co., Ltd. or any official Ragnarok Online publisher.

Ragnarok Online, its characters, artwork, names, and related intellectual property belong to their respective owners.

Alpha RO operates as a fan-run game server.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for your account, password, and anything done through your account.

Do not give your password to people you do not trust.

Alpha RO staff will never ask for your password.

Multiple accounts are allowed.

You may create and own multiple Alpha RO accounts unless a specific event, competition, system, or future server rule clearly states otherwise.

Creating multiple accounts is not automatically considered abuse.

However, using multiple accounts to bypass punishments, exploit systems, automate farming, manipulate events, or break other server rules is not allowed.

3. Play Fair

Alpha RO is meant to be played by humans.

Botting, unauthorized automation, cheating tools, packet manipulation, exploits, duplication bugs, and other methods used to gain an unfair advantage are prohibited.

If you discover a serious exploit or duplication bug, report it instead of abusing it.

Using a bug repeatedly because “the server allowed it” does not automatically make the behavior acceptable.

Alpha RO staff may investigate suspicious activity and may restrict accounts involved in cheating, exploitation, automation, or abuse.

4. Server Rules and Enforcement

Alpha RO may warn, mute, jail, suspend, restrict, or permanently ban accounts that violate server rules.

The action taken depends on the situation.

Not every violation will receive the same punishment.

Serious cheating, exploitation, fraud, or attempts to damage the server may result in immediate account restrictions without prior warning.

Players may contact Alpha RO staff if they believe an enforcement action was made in error.

Staff decisions may be reviewed, but repeated harassment of staff does not guarantee a different result.

5. Game Balance Can Change

Alpha RO is an evolving game server.

Items, skills, quests, cards, drop rates, monsters, maps, rewards, prices, systems, and other gameplay mechanics may be changed when needed for balance, security, bug fixes, or server development.

An item being powerful today does not guarantee that it will remain unchanged forever.

Alpha RO does not promise that every game mechanic, item, or reward will remain permanently identical.

Major changes should be announced when reasonably possible.

6. Downtime, Rollbacks, and Data Loss

We try to keep Alpha RO available and stable, but uninterrupted service is not guaranteed.

Maintenance, crashes, bugs, hosting problems, attacks, database issues, software updates, or other technical problems may cause downtime.

In rare cases, server data may need to be restored from a backup.

This may result in a rollback.

Alpha RO may attempt to restore lost progress when practical, but recovery of every item, trade, drop, or character action cannot always be guaranteed.

7. Donations, Donate Tickets, and Virtual Items

Alpha RO may offer optional donation-related benefits.

Donate Tickets, virtual items, costumes, currencies, and other in-game benefits have no real-world cash value outside Alpha RO.

Purchasing or receiving virtual items does not give ownership of the game server, database entry, item ID, or underlying game asset.

Alpha RO may adjust virtual items when necessary for balance, security, or bug fixes.

A balance adjustment does not create a right to a refund.

8. Donate Storage and Refunds

Donate Tickets or purchased donation items may be delivered through Alpha RO's Donate Storage system.

All donations, Donate Tickets, and donation-related purchases are non-refundable.

Once a donation or purchase has been completed, it cannot be exchanged back for money regardless of whether the Donate Tickets or virtual items have been claimed, withdrawn, traded, equipped, consumed, transferred, or otherwise used.

Players are responsible for checking the amount and selected purchase before completing a transaction.

Fraudulent payment disputes or chargebacks after receiving donation-related benefits may result in account restrictions while the transaction is investigated.

9. Trading Between Players

Players may trade supported in-game items and currencies where the game allows it.

Alpha RO is not responsible for bad trades, poor decisions, trust trades, loans between players, or agreements made outside official server systems.

If you voluntarily give an item to another player, staff are not automatically required to reverse the trade.

Scams involving exploits, impersonation, hacked accounts, or deliberate technical abuse may be investigated separately.

Real-money trading may be restricted or prohibited under separate Alpha RO server rules.

10. Player Conduct

Do not use Alpha RO to seriously harass, threaten, impersonate, scam, dox, or target other players.

Trash talk, competition, arguments, and normal online-game banter are not automatically violations.

However, conduct that becomes targeted harassment, threats, fraud, doxxing, or deliberate disruption of the server or community may result in action.

Staff may moderate official Alpha RO platforms including the game server, website, and official community channels.

11. Account Security

You are responsible for keeping your login information secure.

Use a password that you do not reuse elsewhere.

Alpha RO staff will never ask for your password.

Alpha RO cannot guarantee restoration of items or characters lost because a player voluntarily shared credentials or failed to secure their account.

If Alpha RO suffers a verified server-side security incident, reasonable steps will be taken to investigate and protect affected accounts.

12. Account Names, Character Names, and Guild Names

Players are generally free to choose their own usernames, character names, and guild names.

Crude, vulgar, immature, offensive, ridiculous, or intentionally stupid names are not automatically against Alpha RO rules.

Profanity, jokes, and questionable taste by themselves are generally not reasons for staff action.

However, names that impersonate Alpha RO staff are prohibited.

A normal player may not use names intended to make other players believe they are an official Game Master, administrator, moderator, or other Alpha RO staff member.

Examples include:

• GM Aba
• Admin Aba
• AlphaRO GM
• similar names deliberately used to represent false staff authority

Alpha RO staff may rename or restrict a name when it is reasonably being used for staff impersonation, fraud, or interference with the technical operation of the game.

13. Abuse of the Website and Services

Do not attack, overload, aggressively scrape, exploit, or intentionally disrupt the Alpha RO website, API, database, game server, launcher, patcher, Discord systems, or related infrastructure.

Creating multiple accounts is allowed.

Sending large numbers of automated account-creation requests in a short period is not.

Alpha RO may use CAPTCHA, rate limiting, automated abuse detection, firewall rules, and similar security systems to protect its services.

14. Events and Special Rules

Some events, tournaments, War of Emperium formats, competitions, giveaways, or special systems may have additional rules.

Those event-specific rules may temporarily restrict things that are normally allowed, such as multiple accounts, donation equipment, trading, or certain items.

When an event has clearly published rules, those rules apply to that event.

15. Service Changes

Alpha RO may add, modify, replace, or remove website features, game systems, security systems, payment methods, community services, or other parts of the project.

These Terms may also be updated as Alpha RO changes.

If an important change affects players significantly, Alpha RO should make a reasonable effort to announce it through the website, Discord, or another official Alpha RO channel.

The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when the Terms are revised.

16. Server Closure

No private game server can guarantee that it will operate forever.

If Alpha RO permanently shuts down, virtual currencies, items, characters, account progress, donation benefits, and other in-game content may no longer be accessible.

Players should not treat virtual items or Donate Tickets as investments or financial assets.

17. Privacy

Alpha RO may store information necessary to operate accounts and protect the service, including account information, email addresses, login/security information, and technical records used for security and abuse prevention.

More detailed information about data handling may be provided through a separate Alpha RO Privacy Policy.

Do not send passwords, private keys, recovery codes, or other sensitive credentials to staff.

18. No Guaranteed Gameplay Outcome

Alpha RO provides access to the server and its game systems.

Alpha RO does not guarantee that you will obtain a particular item, card, ranking, drop, refinement result, PvP outcome, event reward, or other gameplay result.

Random systems are random.

Losing a 10% success roll nine times in a row may be spiritually devastating, but it is not automatically a server defect.

19. Common Sense Rule

Not every possible form of abuse can be listed in advance.

Trying to technically avoid the exact wording of a rule while intentionally abusing the server may still result in action.

At the same time, Alpha RO staff should not invent punishments arbitrarily.

Rules should be applied reasonably and consistently based on the situation and available evidence.

20. Contact and Support

Questions, reports, appeals, billing concerns, and account issues should be sent through Alpha RO's official support channels or official Discord server.

Never send your password, private keys, recovery codes, or other sensitive credentials to anyone claiming to be Alpha RO staff.

Agreement

By creating an Alpha RO account or continuing to use Alpha RO, you confirm that you have read, or had the opportunity to read, these Terms and agree to follow them.
